Barbara is famously known for her Two Grey Hills pattern—a style of traditional Diné rug weaving known for its intricate geometrics. Inspired by her family's weaving patterns, she adds her own contemporary influences by choosing a more playful color palette. "When I was a child, I used to watch my grandmother weave as I lay next to her on my sheepskin. She would cover me with a warm wool blanket and tell me what my future would be like. She told me I was blessed by the weaving God's, that my weaving will be my life's work, traveling the world to tell people about our weaving. I always wondered how she knew because all her words came true. I want people to feel the love of a grandma when they cover themselves with my blanket," shares Barbara.
The Teller-Pete-Ornelas family is famously known for their incredible wool textiles. Their work is often purchased right off the loom before their weavings are even finished. Taught by her mother and fourth-generation weaver Ruth Teller, Barbara is a fifth-generation weaver alongside her sister Lynda Teller Pete and Rosann Teller Lee (1945-1996). Her children, Sierra Nizhoni Teller Ornelas and Michael Paul Teller Ornelas are sixth-generation weavers, while her grandchilden Roxanne Rose Lee and Javier Teller Ornelas O’Mara are seventh-generation prospects. For Barbara, weaving frees her creative spirit and promotes harmony. Now in her 70's, Barbara feels blessed to still be weaving and now, she is excited to share her intricate and beautiful designs to a wider audience.

The North Wind brings cold air from the Arctic, and on its wings come tales of green lights that dance across the night sky and snowflakes that sparkle like diamonds. The North Wind is also a trade wind, influencing migration and the exchange of goods for people across the Northern Hemisphere for thousands of years. We’ve combined the poetic and the practical of the North Winds to create our North Winds Series—a collection of Native designed 100% wool blankets produced at a heritage mill in Norway.
The land of glacial fjords and snowy mountains, Norway has a long history of wool textile production. For our North Winds Series, we have partnered with a Norwegian mill specializing in sustainable practices and heritage techniques to produce this special series of Native designed, 100% wool blankets, fusing traditional wool textile knowledge from two ancient traditions with two modern companies working to keep cultural art thriving. This unique partnership allows us to work with a small mill that, like Eighth Generation, values sustainability and cultural practices, while sharing Indigenous art and excellence with Nordic partners. As a vertical mill, all parts of the wool blanket production takes place in the same area—the sheep are raised and tended, the wool sheered, processed, and spun into yarn, and the blankets woven in one sustainable operation. These luxurious, 100% wool blankets are of a thick, heavy weight, perfect cuddling under while you watch the snow fall outside your window.
