2021 International Blanket Design Contest

1. Introduction

1.1 No purchase necessary to enter this contest.

1.2 This contest is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram, LinkedIn or any other social network. You are providing your information to Snoqualmie Tribe, the parent company of Eighth Generation, LLC and not to any other party. The information provided will be used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

1.3 The sponsor is Eighth Generation, LLC, 93 Pike Street Suite #103, Seattle, WA 98101 (“Sponsor”).

2. Eligibility and entry restrictions

2.1 To be eligible to enter a contest:

(a) Entrants must be a real person, at least 18 years old, and reside in the United States or Canada, excluding Quebec (proof of address or age may be required).

(b) Employees of Sponsor and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible. This contest is subject to federal, state, provincial, and local laws, and regulations.

(c) Entrants on social media must have a genuine account and must ‘like’ the official Sponsor social network page or account (Facebook, Twitter etc.) as part of the entry process.

2.2 Sponsor is under no obligation to choose a winner. 

2.3 The Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the contest.

3. Entry Process and Start and end dates

3.1 This contest begins on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 and ends Tuesday, July 6, 2021 (the “Entry Period”).

3.2 To enter, complete the form at https://eighthgeneration.com/pages/2021-wool-blanket-design-contest during the Entry Period. Limit one entry per person. Entry requirements include providing your full name, an email address, Tribal Affiliation(s), and a personal statement. You will also be required to select the blanket category, and provide a photo or file of your artistic submission.

3.3 Entrants represent and warrant that their entry is the original work of such entrant, it has not previously won awards, it does not violate the rights of any other person or entity, and Sponsor’s publication of the entry will not infringe on the rights of any third party. Entrants agree to indemnify and hold harmless Released Parties (defined below) from any claims to the contrary. Any entrant whose entry includes the names of third parties or contains elements not owned by the entrant (such as, but not limited to, references to trademarks, names, quotes, etc.) must be able to provide legal releases for such use including Sponsor’s use of such entry, in a form satisfactory to administrator, upon request, prior to award of prize and/or naming of entrant as a Finalist (as defined below). By submitting an entry, you agree that your entry is gratuitous and made without restriction, and will not place Sponsor under any obligation, that Sponsor is free to use or otherwise disclose the ideas contained in the entry on a non-confidential basis. You acknowledge that, by acceptance of your entry, Sponsor does not waive any rights to use similar or related ideas previously known to Sponsor, or developed by its employees, or obtained from sources other than you.

3.4 BY SUBMITTING AN ENTRY, ENTRANT ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HIS/HER ENTRY MAY BE PUBLISHED ON SPONSOR’S WEBSITE (THE “Website”), IN ANY MANNER, IN ANY JURISDICTION, WHETHER VIRTUALLY OR IN REAL LIFE, IN SPONSOR’S DISCRETION.

3.5 Submission of entry grants Sponsor and its agents an unlimited, worldwide, perpetual, license and right to publish, use, publicly perform the entry in any way, in any and all media, without limitation, and without consideration to the entrant. The winning submission may also be published on Sponsor’s website(s) and social media accounts. All entries submitted must conform to the additional submission requirements:

  • Entry must comply with these Official Rules and any Terms of Service on the Website (if any);
  • Entry uploaded through the Website must be in digital format and must comply with the posting requirements set forth above and as posted on the Website;
  • Entry cannot be sexually explicit or suggestive, unnecessarily violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group, profane or pornographic, contain nudity or any materially dangerous activity;
  • Entry cannot promote alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing), any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous, or any particular political agenda or message;
  • Entry cannot be obscene or offensive, endorse any form of hate or hate group;
  • Entry cannot defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about Sponsor or its products, or other people, products or companies;
  • Entry cannot contain trademarks, logos or trade dress owned by others, or advertise or promote any brand or product of any kind, without permission, or contain any personal identification, such as license plate numbers, personal names, e-mail addresses or street addresses;
  • Entry cannot contain copyrighted materials owned by others (including photographs, sculptures, paintings and other works of art or images published on or in websites, television, movies or other media) without permission; Sponsor does not permit the infringement of others’ rights and any use of materials not original to the entrant (except copyrighted materials owned by Sponsor) is grounds for disqualification from the Contest;
  • Entry cannot communicate messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which Sponsor wishes to associate; and
  • Entry cannot depict, and cannot itself, be in violation of any law.

Any waiver of any obligation hereunder by Sponsor does not constitute a general waiver of any obligation to entrants. Sponsor reserves the right to waive the Contest submission requirements set forth herein in its reasonable discretion.

3.6 We reserve the right to cancel or amend the contest and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of our control. Any changes to the contest will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by us.

3.7 Entry into the contest will be deemed as acceptance of all of these terms and conditions.

4. Judging

4.1 Contest entries shall be judged or winners selected on the basis of those criteria of each category specified on our website and/or social media channels in relation to the contest.

4.2 Potential winners will be announced on or about Tuesday, August 31,2021. All judging will be conducted by Contest judges selected by Sponsor in its sole discretion. All Contest judges’ decisions, as well as Sponsor’s decisions, are final and binding in all respects relating to the selection of the finalist.

5. Winners and prizes ARV

5.1 Three Grand Prizes and Approximate Retail Values (“ARV’s”). The three Grand Prizes will have an Approximate Retail Value of $10,000 which includes monetary compensation of $3,000 for creating a custom wool blanket design with Eighth Generation and thirty (30) blankets with an ARV of $7,000. Prizes consist of only those items specifically listed as part of the prize. Taxes are winner’s sole responsibility. Prizes are not transferrable or substitutable by potential winner. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any prize, or portion thereof, in the event of unavailability.

5.2 The Sponsor will notify the potential winner by their contact information on or after August 31, 2021. If the potential winner cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the date of the first attempt, Sponsor may select an alternate potential winner from the remaining non-winning, eligible entries. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize to an alternate entrant who will also be selected in a manner deemed fair and equitable by Sponsor, even if the disqualified potential winner’s name may have been publicly announced. Winners may be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release, and, where lawful, a Publicity Release, within seven (7) business days of first attempted notification or prize may be forfeited. Sponsor is not responsible for any change of contact information. Except where prohibited by law, winner grants (and agrees to confirm this grant in writing, if requested) permission for Sponsor and those acting under its authority to use his/her name, photograph, and/or likeness, for advertising and/or publicity purposes in any and all media now known or hereinafter invented without territorial or time limitations and without compensation. 

5.3 Taxes (INCLUDING ANY INCOME TAXES) are the sole responsibility of the winner, regardless of whether prize is used in whole or in part. The grand prize winner will be issued (if a US resident) an IRS 1099 form for the retail value of the prize. All Prize details are at Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion.

6. Release and Limitations of Liability

6.1 By participating in this contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, other companies associated with the Contest, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the contest or receipt or use of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the contest, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human intervention in the contest; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d) application downloads, (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the contest, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the contest, the announcement of the winner; or (f) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants participation in the contest or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize. Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the contest, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorney's fees. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the contest. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

6.2 Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, undelivered, incorrect, or inaccurate entry information whether caused by Internet users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of the entries.  Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the contest, or any part of it, if any fraud, bugs, virus, technical failures, or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the contest, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion.  In the event of cancellation, Sponsor may cancel all prizes at its sole discretion.  Sponsor is not responsible for computer system, phone line, hardware, software or program malfunctions, or other errors, failures or delays in computer transmissions, the website, or network connections that are human or technical in nature.  Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process, the website, or the operation of the contest or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules of this or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.  Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

7. What happens to entries?

7.1 Contest entries will not be returned. Please, therefore, keep a copy of your contest entries.

8. Publicity

8.1 We may undertake publicity activities relating to contests and prize awards. The winner therefore agrees to the use of their name, photograph and disclosure of town or region of residence in any post-prize-winning publicity names, surnames, towns or regions of residence and prize details.

8.2 All other personal details collected as part of the contest will be used in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This contest and its Official Rules are governed by US law and are subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of the contest’s Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Washington, U.S.A., without giving effect to the conflict of laws rules thereof.
