Job Opening - Textile Production Lead

Eighth Generation is seeking a Textile Production Lead who is passionate about process improvement, manufacturing, textiles, and the arts. The successful candidate will have a bold desire to lead, a keen eye for detail, and a willingness to problem-solve, all under the guidance of the Product Development Manager.

Position Basics

  • $20-$30 per hour starting wage DOE
  • SODO/Georgetown HQ location
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 40 hours per week
  • Reports to Product Development Manager

Responsibilities

  • Supervises production of Gold Label in-house textiles including throw blankets, baby blankets, and scarves
  • Ensures quality of textiles made by inspecting product and training Warehouse and Production staff
  • Schedules textile production staffing of 5-10 team members in coordination with Warehouse and Production Manager
  • Work with Product Development Manager to troubleshoot mechanical issues and become the company expert on machine maintenance
  • Maintains high standards of staff efficiency by improving processes throughout the production cycle
  • Flexes production schedule based on demand forecasting in collaboration with the Financial Manager, Product Development Manager, and Warehouse and Production Manager
  • Orders materials, machine parts, supplies etc. integral to the production and packaging of Gold Label products
  • Embraces the challenge of shaping the future of the Gold Label program
  • Participates in sampling and prototyping process for new items and provides input on improvements
  • Reduces waste, keeps expenses and labor within budgeted parameters
  • Gains working knowledge of computer programs associated with textile design

Requirements

  • Experience in commercial textile production preferred
  • Experience working with sewing machines and/or large manufacturing machinery 
  • Knowledge of sewing, knitting, or other textile creation processes
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Bias for improvement, never settling for the status quo
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes preferred
  • Manufacturing and/or process improvement experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 1-3 years of relevant work experience preferred
