"We are the People of the Moon," shares Snoqualmie artist Taylor Cameron. sdukʷalbixʷ (“Snoqualmie” in their Lushootseed language) translates to “the Transformer’s people”. Transformer stories are sacred Creation history stories from Snoqualmie and in one of these stories, Transformer travels back to the Star People and can be seen today as Moon.
Taylor honors that celestial connection in her Salish Moon Enamel Pin, which features a gold, red, and black moon face in a classic Coast Salish art style. sdukʷalbixʷ (Snoqualmie) stories tell of how many good things are gifts from the Transformer—who created "the various people and the rivers as they are now." We also have Transformer to thank for the fish in the rivers and forests and meadows full of wild game that is good to eat.
Wear this enamel pin as a reminder of your connection to both the sky and the earth, and your place in the beautiful, natural cycle of things.
