Fireweed is a flower of hope. Looking out over a fire-blackened hillside or meadow, one of the first signs of life returning are the splashes of vibrant green stalks and powerfully pink blossoms of the fireweed. "Chamerion angustifolium—fireweed—is the one of the first plants to lead the regrowth after devastating events like wildfires, volcanic eruptions and landslides," shares Snoqualmie artist Rhonda J. Spencer. "It is one of the most useful plants, as every part of it can be used as either medicine, food, clothing, bedding along with its beauty." Rhonda has honored this beautiful bloom and powerful story in her New Life Rises Fine Art Print.
In the foreground of Rhonda's piece is a stalk of surviving, thriving, fireweed, centering its important message. "As a survivor of assault, I relate my story to this flower. It is a story that all who have experienced a trauma will understand: the emotions that one struggles with as you try to recover from all the hurt, betrayal, and devastation of their wildfire that forever rocked your life. To me, fireweed says that, despite the devastations that we have to endure we can still rise through them and become something beautiful. We can be useful no matter the desolation we encounter. This bright beautiful flower says, "Yes, you can rise out of these ashes and despite your scars you can be useful to all of those around you." Just like the fireweed it is important that we rise!"
This message of hope and strength in our New Life Rises Fine Art Print make it a powerful gift for the person in your life who is working to bloom and thrive.

Our Native-designed fine art prints are created in our studio on archival paper. This is one more example of our Native business taking back production so we can further invest in our artists and community!
Known as giclée prints (pronounced "zhe-clay"), our fine art prints are distinguished from mass-produced prints due to their quality, longevity, and value. We print using a state-of-the-art, large-format fine art printer in our Seattle-based art studio. Because they're printed on acid-free paper, our prints won't degrade over time, and when displayed out of direct sunlight will maintain their color saturation and fine detail for decades.
