Lehuauakea

My name is Lehuauakea, and I am a Native Hawaiian artist and cultural practitioner. While I work in a range of media, my creative practice centers around the revival of traditional kapa, a barkcloth textile used in nearly every aspect of my ancestors' daily lives. As a younger generation practitioner, it is my life's work to help bring this sustainable textile back to our community, using it to tell empowering stories while bringing us closer to our land and culture.
