Salish Stories Coaster Set

The Salish Sea is an ocean of stories, populated by characters both playful and heroic. Coast Salish artist and carver Andrea Wilbur Sigo (Squaxin Island) has taken figures from traditional Coast Salish stories to design our Salish Stories Coaster Set. Brought to life in richly-colored glazes on ceramic coasters, Andrea has shared these figures and their stories in her own words:

• Celestial Conductor: Moon, the guardian of our tides, orchestrates the rhythmic dance of the ocean, ensuring all things flow harmoniously through the night. Its steady glow guides the currents, keeping nature's rhythm in perfect alignment.
• Star Gazer: Frog, the mate and steadfast companion to Moon, serves as the voice of the land, resonating with the sounds of twilight. With each croak, Frog weaves a tapestry of life, connecting earth and sky in a harmonious dialogue.
• Intertwined: Wolves embody the essence of soulmates, forging deep bonds that reflect loyalty and devotion in their partnerships. As true life partners, they navigate the wild together, exhibiting a profound connection that transcends mere companionship.
• First to Feast: Seals, the graceful dancers of the water world, move elegantly through the waves, enchanting all who witness their performance. With their playful nature, they expertly guide others toward the abundant salmon, weaving the threads of life in their aquatic realm.

This set of four ceramic coasters comes packaged with a wooden case, perfect for display and storage, while each coaster has a cork bottom to prevent scratching. The set one each of the four embossed designs in richly-colored crackle glazes.
