The sun shines above the snow-covered Ojibwe homelands, illuminating a trail of footprints from a well-known furry friend: the River Otter. In traditional Ojibwe art, the "Otter Steps" pattern is often seen across weaving and beadwork. Anishinaabe-Ojibwe artist Giizh (Sarah) Agaton Howes has adapted and woven this iconic design across her new Bed Linen Collection. In a muted cream, she highlights the step, step, slide movement an otter makes when moving across snow and ice in the winter.
"These footprints are visible across my community in the winter. Otters are so beautiful in the way they partner and parent as well as most notably the way they PLAY. I love to share these designs to remind us to be playful in all seasons," shares Giizh.
