"Life is not linear but chapters of various adventures," shares Tessa Sayers, the Turtle Mountain Chippewa artist behind our New Beginnings Wool Blanket. Turning the pages of Tessa's own adventure, one would find many stories, including artist, poet, farm girl, business owner, holistic mind-body somatic practition er, and now Eighth Generation blanket designer.

New Beginnings maps a life's journey: the design forms around a central pattern representing the self, with radiating fragmented circles that symbolize the various pathways we take in our lives. Tessa shares, "New Beginnings features the full spectrum of life seasons. My journey took me down paths of loss, infertility, anxiety, and autoimmune disease. It has also led me to experiences of love, connection, creativity, and purpose."

Her design expands beyond floral motifs to include geometric shapes and symbols representing the Plains lifestyle of her Chippewa, Cree, and Métis ancestors across the plains of North Dakota, Montana, and Manitoba. 

With a winter-blue color palette that feels both timeless and trendy, our New Beginnings Wool Blanket is a calming, meditative addition to your bed or couch.       I'm Tessa Sayers from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa community. I'm an artist, poet, farm girl, and holistic mind-body somatic practitioner. As the owner and creator of Soul Curiosity, I'm on a mission to inspire holistic healing through the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wisdom of the Indigenous Medicine Wheel.   I'm a recipient of the National Center for American Indian Economic Development’s 40 Under 40 Award and have held various leadership roles serving the Native community for over 20 years in counseling, mentorship, marketing, brand merchandising, programming, and business development. Art is a medium for me to explore, process, and share my inner mind-body world to support my healing and empower others to find healing in themselves.
