If you're ever looking for guidance from the ones before you, look up at the stars shining across the night sky; giving us a glimpse into our beloved sky world. For the Snoqualmie people, sky world and its stars play an important part in their Creation history stories. It is said that two sisters looked up at the sky and wished to marry Stars. When they awoke the next day, their wish had come true. The sisters were then married to two stars; and one of the sisters eventually became pregnant and gave birth to a son. Missing home down below, the sisters climbed back down to their people with woven cedar. There, the baby would later become dukʷibəł (Transformer), who transformed the earth and Snoqualmie people.
In shining silver, Snoqualmie artist Bethany Fackrell pays homage to the stars in her Star Stories Earrings. At the heart of her design, lays a circle of abalone inlay, surrounded by a bright bursting star. Simple, yet bold, these studs are the perfect way to add a touch of sparkle to your every day look. A beautiful blend of innovation and heritage, wear our Star Stories Earrings to feel connected to Snoqualmie and the sky world.
"Stars are often in my art, in fact many tribes also have stories about the stars and sky world themselves. I want people to feel connected to our stories and I want it to feel effortless to do so," shares Bethany.
