The cedar tree plays a prominent role in the tradition of Native cultures of the Pacific Northwest, providing the basis for shelter, clothing, art, and ceremony. Eighth Generation's delicate cedar bough, cast in silver in the Seattle area, is intended to be a gentle reminder that all people are connected to the land. Our metal jewelry is cast locally by artisans in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood and assembled in our Seattle studio.

(Note: model is the second picture is wearing an older style of necklace chain. The chain you will receive is an adjustable-length fine Sterling silver chain shown in the photo of the necklace resting on a table.)

Care Instructions: 

  • Store silver jewelry out of direct sunlight in a cool, dark place or airtight container
  • Wear silver jewelry frequently to reduce tarnishing
  • Use polishing cloth to return you silver piece to its original shine; do not use this polishing cloth on silver-plated jewelry or pearls

about the artist

I'm Louie Gong (Nooksack) and I'm the founder of Eighth Generation. I'm a self-taught artist who was raised by my grandparents in the Nooksack tribal community in northwest Washington. I got my start by painting cultural art on shoes, but realized that creating one-of-a-kind pieces did not provide a sustainable pathway to success, so I began applying my artwork to accessibly-priced products. My unique style merges traditional Coast Salish art with influences from my mixed heritage and urban environment to create work that resonates widely across communities and cultures.
