Apay’uq

Apay’uq is from Bristol Bay, Alaska, living in Dillingham, Twin Hills, Aleknagik, and Igiugig. Her artistic style and subject matter focus on the region’s vibrant Yup'ik culture. She is a shareholder of Bristol Bay Native Corporation and leased the original image that helped create the “Bristol Bay Spirit” blanket. Apay’uq’s mission in creating art is to share the best parts of what it is to be a Yup’ik person. Though she is best known for her acrylic paintings and murals, she prides herself in the traditional experiences behind her artistic depictions, because before the art came the experience.
