We are excited to share that our flagship store at Pike Place Market is now open seven days a week! You can visit us 10am to 5:30pm Monday through Sunday to shop art, blankets, jewelry, apparel, and so much more by Inspired Native artists—never "Native-inspired."
With these new expanded hours, there's no better time to introduce you to the talented team who do it all at our store! Stephanie, Rhiannon, Yamileth, and Giani love talking to guests about Eighth Generation's history, our company values, and our great designs and artists, so be sure to chat with them when you visit. Read on for some fun facts about each of our great shop staff.

Retail and Special Projects Manager, Stephanie Masterman (Tlingit)
Stephanie (Sxhaalghén) Masterman (she/her) is Tlingit from Southeast Alaska. She was raised in Seattle and is currently a student at the University of Washington. Stephanie has been on the Eighth Generation team for six years.
“My favorite Eighth Generation products are the Double Vision Earrings by Louie Gong (Nooksack)," says Stephanie. "I have them in two colors and in almost every picture of me I’m wearing them and I love telling folks to visit our Pike Place Market store to buy them when I meet new people who notice my earrings! Wearing these earrings always gives me the opportunity to talk about Coast Salish art and why it's important to be knowledgeable about the art and language of the Indigenous peoples whose land you are on.”
During the past six years working at the Market, Stephanie has built great relationships with our fellow Market businesses. She also has a lot of personal favorite shops to visit when she's there for fun. “I just love Left Bank Books and BLMF Literary Saloon at Pike Place Market," shares Stephanie. "Between the two, they are there for you for rare finds and new and used books and whenever I find the book I’m searching for it feels like treasure! I am one of those defiant readers who refuses to evolve with digital books. I will forever and always be a paperback girl and will own the hard copies of the books I love. I'm glad I can find the books I love at Pike Place Market!”
“For fun, I like to practice jab-cross-hook-cross, round kicks, and Roll Bounce. Translation: My hobbies include martial arts and roller skating—but also martial arts while roller skating? Yes, that too.”
Community Engagement and Retail Specialist, Rhiannon Dempsey (Pascua Yaqui and Diné/Navajo)
Rhiannon Dempsey (they/them) is Pascua Yaqui and Diné (Navajo) of the Towering house, Kinyaa'áanii, and Bitter water, Tódích'ii'nii, clans from Phoenix, Arizona. It was there that Rhiannon "fell in love with the purples, blues, and yellows of the Arizona sunsets." They also share "I'm named for the Fleetwood Mac song and grew up surrounded by 70s and 80s classic rock," so they always have great music recommendation.
"I've been with Eighth Generation for five months," shares Rhiannon, "and my favorite product is the New Phase Limited Edition Throw Blanket
designed by Jared Yazzie (Diné). The blanket's inspiring meaning of "transition" came at a very fitting time in my life, as well as the modern take of the traditional "Chief" Blanket makes it very special to me. The amazing colors are reminiscent of the Arizona desert giving me great comfort after moving to Seattle, where I've come to appreciate just how stunning the desert can be."
Like Stephanie, Rhiannon is a big fan of the Market's bookstores. "My favorite Market store is BLMF Literary Saloon. The atmosphere is that of a book cave with endless discoveries to be made. However, I'm a very frequent patron of Ghost Alley Espresso!" "I write any chance I get, notebooks or digital, with the ultimate goal of transcribing my family's history. Learning more about my ancestors and culture along the way."
Community Engagement and Retail Specialist, Yamileth Diaz
Yamileth Diaz (she/her) was born in San Salvador, El Salvador and raised in Seattle. She has been with Eighth Generation for eight months, and has already helped out on the store, warehouse, studio, and communications teams.
"My favorite items from Eighth Generation are the Silver Arrowhead Earrings
by Ahsaki Chachere (Navajo/Diné, African American)," Yamileth shares, "because they are a reminder to protect ourselves as much as we prepare ourselves when we get up and get ready for the day ahead."
Yamileth fits right in with her book-loving coworkers, as her favorite store in the Market is also a bookstore. "I love spending time in the Lionheart Bookstore, whenever I go back I find a book I didn't know I needed!"
When she's not working or reading, Yamileth is busy taking advantage of all our beautiful state has to offer. "I enjoy taking road trips and I have a goal to visit as many parks in Washington State as possible," she says.
Community Engagement and Retail Specialist, Giani Moses (Tulalip)
Giani Moses (she/her) is a "proud Tulalip tribal member, born and raised in Pendleton, Oregon." She has been with Eighth Generation since October, and has recently made the switch from full time warehouse duties to working in our store.
"My favorite Eighth Generation product at the moment is anything made by Sarah Agaton Howes
," shares Giani. "Her classic Anishinaabe/Ojibwe traditional florals are so vibrant and captivating. If I had to pick one, I’d probably choose the Wild Plums Light Wool Scarf
!" (It's okay, Giani, we won't make you pick just one!)
Giani loves working at the Market. "My favorite part of the Pike’s Place Market is definitely the Crafts Market. I absolutely love wandering on my break time to see all the amazing artwork and products. It’s such a diverse community and I learn new things all the time."
We can't wait for "bring your pet to work day," because Giani has double trouble she could introduce the team to. "One fun thing about me is that I have two handsome, sweet, amazing, fluffy, kitty cats named Spooky and Pepperoncini that I love with all my heart! I spend most of my time (and most of my money) with those two."
Eighth Generation is so proud of our friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated team. We hope you visit us at the Market soon to meet these four rock stars!
