No one told me that I was going to be honored with the cover of Native Peoples Magazine's April 2013 issue, so you can imagine how surprised I was to wake up one morning find images of the magazine posted to my Facebook page.
Native Peoples is the "largest, paid-circulation, consumer magazine devoted to the arts and cultures of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas" and has a circulation of over 100,000 copies. It's a mind-bending experience to visit the local news stand, Barnes and Noble - and even Walmart - and see photo of yourself on the cover of such a prestigious publication.
The article inside focuses on the intersection of service and entrepreneurship represented by my latest project, the Mockups art toy. Mockups, which I developed and financed myself over the last three years, was created specifically for workshops with youth. You can learn more about Mockups at www.getmockups.com or visit the Mockups page on this website.
Big thank yous are extended the folks at Native Peoples, as well as all those who have helped me reach a space in which I am presented with such rare opportunities.

Eighth Generation, the first Native-owned company to offer wool blankets, is honored to introduce John Isaiah Pepion (Blackfeet Nation) as the newest Inspired Natives Project collaborator! John will join 5 other artists in the project, through which Eighth Generation mentors artists as they transition from a gallery based business model to an entrepreneurship model.
“While John's vibrant, contemporary ledger art will look stunning and unique on our products, we are equally excited about supporting John's arts entrepreneurship goals,” says Eighth Generation founder Louie Gong
